ECP LEADERSHIP SUMMIT

The annual Empowered Communities Program (ECP) Leadership Summit convened the neighborhood leadership from communities implementing the ECP as well as stakeholders from the government, non-profit and private sectors. The summit provided leaders with the opportunity to report out to each other the progress they made in advancing their community’s resilient, hear a briefing on the Neighborhood Empowerment’s program plan for the upcoming 2016 year and provide feedback, and have a briefing on new earthquake insurance plans from the California Earthquake Authority. LEADERSHIP SUMMIT OUTCOME

The ECP Leadership Summit took place on Thursday, March 4, 2016 from 2:00 – 6:00pm at the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission Building.

8 ECP Neighborhoods were represented: Cayuga, Miraloma Park, Diamond Heights, Brotherhood Way, Ocean Merced & Ingleside (OMI), Sunset, Merced Extension Triangle (MET), and Bayview.

18 Neighborhood Leaders reported out: Jorge Palofox, Patty Clement-Cihak, Robert Gee, Joanie van Rijn, Jean Perata, Guido van Rijn, Betsy Eddy, Jim Stelly, Greg Carey, Mary Harris, Al Harris, Patty Spaniak, Delia Fitzpatrick, Pastor Megan Rohrer, Marc Christianson, Glen Hatakeyama, GL Hodge and Dan Dodt

51 people registered to attend, 34 signed in

17 Organizations, Institutions & Government agencies represented: SF City Administrative Office, Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services, Department of Public Health, Public Utilities Commission, Department of Emergency Management, Department of Environmental Services, Department of Economic and Community Development, Department of Technology, Office of Economic and Workforce Development, SF Recreation & Park, Salvation Army, San Francisco State University, Team Rubicon, Microsoft, CORO, and CA Earthquake Authority

LEADERSHIP SUMMIT OUTCOME & ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Resilient Bayview

  1. Hosted its first 3rd St Hub Activation Summit
  2. Conducted preparedness workshops for seniors with SF NERT
  3. Launched the Resilient Youth Leadership Program w/ A. Philip Randolph Institute

Resilient Brotherhood Way

  1. Created a Resilience Action Plan
  2. In the process of securing funds to implement Resilience Action Plan

Resilient Cayuga

  1. Hosted Community Resilience Summit and developed a Resilience Action Plan
  2. Secured 10K in funding to build kits for seniors, conduct disaster prepardness workshops with DPH/SF CARD, and build disaster supply caches

Resilient Diamond Heights

  1. Secured grant funds from SF Foundation to engage housing providers in Diamond Heights
  2. Re-activate NERT Team
  3. Hosted Community Resilience Summit
  4. Continued to develop HUB model by engaging local stakeholders and organizations

Resilient M.E.T.

  1. Conduct two community resilience summits and craft a Resilience Action Plan
  2. Identify HUB Activation

Resilient Miraloma Park

  1. Re-activate NERT Team with 40 people trained in 2015
  2. Created Neighborhood Block Captain Program
  3. Engaged in HUB Activation by entering into a partnership with Miraloma Elementary School

Resilient OMI

  1. Conducted four Community Resilience Workshops and crafted a Resilience Action Plan
  2. Identified first HUB activation site

Resilient Sunset

  1. Secured grant funds from SF Foundation to engage housing providers in Diamond Heights
  2. Re-activate NERT Team
  3. Hosted Community Resilience Summit
  4. Continued to develop HUB model by engaging local stakeholders and organizations
